Every year when we gather for our Passover Seder I am amazed by how Jesus fulfilled every detail of the feast. It was rather different this year as instead of gathering around a table we assembled on a screen (thanks to Zoom).

Many of our lives were stuffed full with the requirements and demands of others or even those things which we had added to our lives that we now thought were essential! Could it be that what God wanted to do was lead us out of this captivity into a wilderness where we would only have Him and us? It seemed to me like that was what we were heading into, not coming out of.Īs I meditated on this I began to see that actually our slavery was not the “lockdown” but the life we had been living prior to “lockdown”. They didn’t know where they were going, they didn’t know how they were going to eat and drink and they had lost all their normal boundaries and routines. However, I was reminded that when the people left captivity in Egypt, their lives, to a certain extent got harder. Don’t get me wrong, if that was what God was going to do I would have been praising and celebrating with everyone else and declaring God’s mighty works. I was also unsure about a number of words that spoke of God miraculously bringing this pandemic to an end at Passover. There was so much noise!!!! And yet, I felt that God was saying this was a time for being at rest with Him in the stillness and hearing what He had to say.

I don’t know about you, but during the early days of this virus wreaking havoc in the earth, my inbox and Facebook page were awash with prophetic voices declaring what God was doing.
